Pavement Reconstruction Set To Begin On S.R. 221
Chillicothe (Thursday, November 1, 2012) – Crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Brown County Highway Maintenance Facility will begin pavement repairs next week on state Route 221, requiring a two-week closure of the route.
On Monday, November 5, ODOT crews will close S.R. 221 between Higginsport and Georgetown to begin reconstruction and pavement repairs, where the route was comprised near the 6.5-mile marker following a slip and shoulder collapse.
The route is already restricted to one lane, with traffic being maintained by temporary traffic signals. During the upcoming closure, motorists will be detoured via U.S. 52 at Higginsport to S.R. 505, S.R. 125 and S.R. 221 at Georgetown.
The project is anticipated to be completed by the close of the business day Friday, November 16; however, completion of the project will be contingent upon the weather.
