Repairs, Temporary Closure Set For Ross-50
Chillicothe (Thursday, June 29, 2017) – U.S. Route
50 in Ross County will be closed temporarily during the morning hours tomorrow while crews from the Ohio
Department of Transportation conduct pavement repairs.
On Friday, June 30, U.S. 50 will
be closed between
T.R. 38 (Dill Road) and T.R. 150 (California Hollow Road) for pavement repairs
by ODOT maintenance crews. The project area is on the west side of the ongoing
landslide remediation project that is east of Bainbridge, and the repairs are
being made in order to stabilize the existing pavement and provide a smoother
The closure will be in effect
from approximately 9 a.m. to noon, and during this time, truck and thru-traffic
motorists will be detoured by way of S.R. 41 and S.R. 28; however, local
traffic may detour via S.R. 41, Tong Hollow Road and California Hollow Road.
In order to ensure that the roadway is
stable for years to come, ODOT’s engineering team is making some modifications
to the design of the Ross-50 landslide project. While those modifications are
being addressed, the contractor has moved operations to another project;
however, the Ross-50 project is still scheduled to be done later this summer.
The George J. Igel and Company was awarded
an initial contract for approximately $898,890 to repair the slide, and the
includes installing a drilled shaft retaining wall, reconstructing
the embankment, paving and setting new guardrail.
