Peach Orchard Road Now Open
Chillicothe - Work on a bridge replacement project on County Road 21 (Peach Orchard Road) in Highland County is nearing completion, and the route is now open to traffic.
According to Ohio Department of Transportation District 9 Deputy Director James Brushart, crews from R.B. Jergens Construction have completed all major construction to replace a deteriorated bridge located on Peach Orchard Road and situated over Brush Creek in Jackson Township.
“Although there is some minor finishing work to be completed, the contractors have completed major construction and have reopened the route to traffic,” said Brushart.
The project included replacing the 108-foot structure with a pre-stressed, concrete box beam structure, realigning it and reconstructing its approaches with a super-elevated curve to eliminate a sharper curve in the roadway.
R.B. Jergens Construction of Vandalia, Ohio was awarded a contract in the amount of approximately $650,668 in January, and the scheduled completion date for the entire project is August 31, 2008.
Throughout the remainder of construction, there should be little impact to traffic, and traffic will be maintained by flaggers as needed.
