Peebles SRTS Project To Get Under Way Next Week
Construction Will Include Sidewalks, Crosswalks
Chillicothe (Friday, July 1, 2016) – As part of the national Safe Routes to School program, a sidewalk construction project on state Route 41 in Peebles is about to begin.
Crews from Sunesis Construction will be constructing sidewalks and repairing steps along South Main Street (S.R. 41), between Olive and Chautauqua streets, in the village of Peebles for the Adams County/Ohio Valley School District.
Aimed at elementary and middle schools, ODOT’s Safe Routes to School program assists communities in developing and implementing projects and programs that encourage and enable children in kindergarten through eighth grade, including those with disabilities, to walk or bike to school safely.
Sunesis Construction Company was awarded a contract in June for approximately $98,266, and throughout construction, there should be little to no impact to motorists. Construction is scheduled to begin Tuesday, July 5, and all work should be completed by the end of the month.
