Pike-32 Rest Area Closing Next Week
Facility To Be Closed Temporarily For Remodeling
Chillicothe (Thursday, March 17, 2011) – The rest area located on state Route 32 in Pike County, just east of the Adams County line, will be closed next week for remodeling.
On Monday, March 21, the Pike-32 rest area will be closed while contractors upgrade the facility’s plumbing, electric, heating and cooling systems, and other utilities. The renovation is part of a statewide project to upgrade 44 rest areas and travel centers around the state to be more energy efficient, environmentally responsible and customer friendly.
Along with the Pike-32 rest area, the Travel Information Center (TIC) located on U.S. 23 in Scioto County has also been scheduled for remodeling this year; this facility was closed to the traveling public on March 7.
Two other District 9 facilities were also tagged for renovation during the past year: the S.R. 32 rest area in Brown County, which is now open to motorists, and the U.S. 35 facility in Jackson County, which is scheduled to open March 21.
Both the Pike-32 rest area and the U.S. 23 TIC are scheduled to be closed for up to 150 days.
