Culvert Replacement Wrapping Up
Route Now Open To Traffic
August 2, 2018) – A culvert replacement project on state Route 335 in Pike
County is nearing completion, and the route is now open to traffic.
S.R. 335 was closed June 18 between Township Road 511
(Straight Creek Road) and County Road 50 (Watson Road) for a culvert
replacement project that included replacing a twin, corrugated metal pipe
arch with a 10x4-foot box culvert with full-height wingwalls and headwalls.
The closure was necessary due to the skew of the existing and
proposed structures, as well as the project site’s relation to a tributary
and the slope of the terrain adjacent to the roadway. And coming in on
their 45-day schedule, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation
reopened the route to traffic at approximately 1 p.m. today, August 2.
Solid Rock Construction Services was awarded a contract in the
amount of $291,238 to complete the project, and although the contractors have
some finishing work to complete, impacts to motorists should be minimal, and
traffic will be maintained by flaggers as needed when crews are at work.
