Plans In Place For Scioto-73 Bridge Replacement
Construction Set To Begin January 26
Chillicothe (Wednesday, January 14, 2015) – Although our attention is focused on winter maintenance and the snow and ice season, plans are already under way for construction on state Route 73 in Scioto County as a bridge replacement project begins later this month.
Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation – District 9 will be replacing the bridge over Rarden Creek by relocating it adjacent to the existing structure. The project site is located at the 1.10-mile marker, which is immediately west of the corporation limit of Rarden, and construction will include approach work and realigning a small portion of the roadway on S.R. 73.
Weather permitting, construction will begin Monday, January 26, and during the initial phase of the project, there should be little to no impact to traffic. Throughout subsequent phases, traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one lane with the use of flaggers and temporary signals as needed.
The Ohio Bridge Corporation was awarded a contract in the amount of approximately $1.25 million to replace the bridge, and all work is anticipated to be completed in late summer.
