Plans Under Way For S.R. 772 Slide Repair
Construction Set To Begin February 2
Chillicothe (Monday, January 5, 2015) – Although it is that time of year when most eyes are turned toward snow, ice and winter maintenance, plans are under way for a slide repair project on state Route 772 in Ross County, and construction is set to begin next month.
On Monday, February 2, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will close S.R. 772 at the 13.50-mile marker. The project site is located between County Road 175 (Liberty Hill Road) and Township Road 169 (Patton Hill Road), approximately two miles south of Chillicothe, and the closure is anticipated to be in effect for up to 120 days.
The project to rebuild and stabilize the existing slope will include construction of a 564-foot drilled shaft wall, culvert installation, reconstruction of the route’s westbound lane, guardrail replacement and shoulder construction.
While the route is closed, motorists will be detoured by way of U.S. 23 to S.R. 104 at Waverly to S.R. 220 and S.R. 772; an unsigned local detour will also be designated via county roads.
The Alan Stone Company of Cutler, Ohio was awarded a contract in the amount of approximately $1.25 million to repair the slide, and all work is anticipated to be completed in early summer.
