Preservation Projects Get Under Way In Adams County
Crews paving nearly 33 miles of roadway
Chillicothe (Tuesday, April 4, 2017) – As part of the Ohio Department of Transportation - District 9’s 2017 construction program, contractors will be paving nearly 33 miles of roadway for three separate projects in Adams County, with preliminary work already under way.
On Monday, April 10, construction will begin on state Route 73, where crews from the Shelly Company will be paving 15 miles of roadway through Adams County. The project extends from the Highland to the Scioto County line, and during construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers when crews are at work.
The Shelly Company was awarded a contract for approximately $2.67 million to resurface S.R. 73, and the project is scheduled to be completed in early fall.
The Shelly Company is also undertaking a resurfacing project on U.S. 52, where the contractors will be paving the route from the Brown County line to the eastern corporation limit of Manchester. Preliminary work is already under way, and throughout construction, traffic will be maintained by flaggers when crews are at work. The $1.22 million project is scheduled to be completed in early summer.
In addition to these projects, construction for an 8.2-mile resurfacing project has begun on S.R. 136. Crews from Brown County Asphalt will be paving the route from its junction with S.R. 125 to S.R. 32 at Winchester, and during construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers.
Brown County Asphalt was awarded a contract for $1.43 million to complete the project, and all work is anticipated to be completed by the end of June.
The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 11, 2015, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.
