Preservation Work To Begin On Lawrence-217
Chillicothe (Friday, August 12, 2016) – A bridge replacement will begin next week in the community of Linnville in Lawrence County, with restrictions going into effect on state routes 217 and 378.
On Monday, August 15, S.R. 217 will be closed between Township Road 101 (Yellow Creek Road) and the north junction with S.R. 378 while crews from the Ohio Bridge Corporation replace the structure over Symmes Creek. In addition to the bridge replacement, the project will include roadway reconstruction of S.R. 217 and S.R. 378 at their junction.
During construction, S.R. 217 will be closed for approximately three weeks, and traffic will be detoured via S.R. 378 and S.R. 141. S.R. 378, however, will remain open, and traffic will be maintained in one, 11-foot lane with the use of temporary traffic signals.
The Ohio Bridge Corporation was awarded a contract for approximately $1.41 million to complete the project, and all work is anticipated to be finished in mid-fall.
Along with the bridge replacement, construction for a slide repair project will also get under way next week on S.R. 217 near Scottown.
Crews from DGM, Incorporated will be repairing a landslide along the shoulder of the route’s eastbound lane. The project site is located between County Road 2 (Greasy Ridge Road) and T.R. 228 (Capper Ridge Road), approximately one mile west of S.R. 775, and throughout construction, traffic will be maintained by temporary signals.
DGM, Inc. was awarded a contract in the amount of $451,552 to complete the project, and all work is anticipated to be finished in early fall.
