ODOT Seeking Public Comments For Upcoming Projects
Chillicothe (Thursday, January 5, 2012) – As part of the Ohio Department of Transportation – District 9’s Planning & Engineering Department, the Environmental Office is seeking public input on the following proposed projects.
Pike County – PIK-335-16.95; PID: 91273 – This is an emergency project to correct landslide damage by removing the sliding soil mass down to the bedrock and constructing a 15-foot water control bench midway up the cut slope. Trees and bushes will be removed, but none of the trees have habitat for the endangered Indiana bat. In addition, no streams, rivers, waterways or wetlands will be affected by this project. The project will require 0.55 acres of slope easement; however, the right of way is located on a steep bank and no homes, businesses or structures will be removed by the project.
Pike County – PIK-772-7.53 – The proposed project is to replace an existing 75-inch metal culvert that is situated on S.R. 772 over Bull Run, a perennial stream in the Scioto River drainage basin. The project will be completed by ODOT’s county workforce, and all work will take place within the existing state right of way.
Issues the public may wish to comment on include the effect of these projects on local residents, air quality, the local economy, and historic or cultural resources. Written comments should be submitted by January 19, 2012, or the deadline date that is posted on the web site, to:
