Public Meeting Set To Discuss Jackson-35 Blasting Operations
Chillicothe (Monday, April 21, 2014) – A public meeting will be held this week to address operations for an excavation and slide repair project that is under way on U.S. Route 35 and County Road 71 (Lloyds Bridge Road) in Jackson County.
The Ohio Department of Transportation and Beaver Excavating Company will hold an open-house meeting Thursday, April 24, from 6 to 7 p.m. to discuss blasting operations that will take place during certain phases of construction. The meeting will be held at ODOT’s project field office, which is located at 1 Acy Avenue in Jackson.
The project calls for re-grading an existing rock embankment by cutting and blasting along the hillside. Throughout most construction, traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one lane in each direction.
Beaver Excavating was awarded a contract for approximately $1.9 million to recut and repair the area, and the project is anticipated to be completed in late summer.
