Rase’s Mountain Drive To Be Closed For Paving Work
Closure To Be In Effect Thursday, Friday
Chillicothe (Wednesday, April 26, 2017) – A section of Township Road 1570 (Rase’s Mountain Drive) will be closed this week for paving work and reconstruction as part of the Southern Ohio Veterans Memorial Highway project.
Rase’s Mountain Drive will be closed at its junction with County Road 28 (Lucasville-Minford Road) Thursday and Friday, April 27 and 28, for contractors to complete subgrade work and pave the routes’ intersection in order to improve access to Rase’s Mountain Drive.
Currently, Lucasville-Minford Road is closed between Rase’s Mountain Drive and T.R. 381 (Flowers-Ison Road) for culvert installation, drainage work and bridge construction, and these efforts on Lucasille-Minford will continue through August 1.
Completion of the project at Rase’s Mountain Drive will be dependent upon the weather, and in the event of weather-related impacts, the intersection will remain open. When Rase’s Mountain Drive is closed, however, motorists will be detoured by way of T.R. 227 (Hickman Road).
In the spirit of a public-private partnership, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Portsmouth Gateway Group are constructing the new state Route 823, a 16-mile, four-lane, limited access highway from U.S. 23 at Lucasville to U.S. 52 at Sciotoville in Scioto County. The Southern Ohio Veterans Memorial Highway is the department’s first P3 project and the largest, modern earthwork project to be constructed in the state’s history.
