Realignment, Bridge Replacement Project Begins On C.R. 50
Chillicothe (Monday, May 8, 2017) – Work for a realignment and bridge replacement project is under way on County Road 50 (Watson Road) in Pike County, with crews mobilizing today, May 8.
Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Pike County Engineer’s Office will be realigning 1,937 feet of Watson Road and replacing a bridge that is located just south of the route’s junction with C.R. 55 (Hay Hollow Road). In addition to the bridge replacement over Carrs Run, the project includes improvements to the intersection with Hay Hollow Road and a culvert replacement.
Watson Road will be closed for approximately 90 days, and during the initial phase of the project, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 335 and C.R. 39 (Higby Road) to C.R. 35 (Old U.S. 35) in Ross County to Watson Road.
In June, the detour will be re-routed by way of S.R. 32 and U.S. 23 to accommodate for an upcoming closure of S.R. 335 for a bridge replacement near Township Road 511 (Straight Creek Road). Then, in the later stages of the project, Watson Road traffic will be maintained with temporary signals
The Double Z Construction Company was awarded a contract for approximately $1.79 million to complete the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed in mid-fall.
