Repair Slated For Ross-50
closure at Slate Mills on tap
Chillicothe (Thursday, July 6, 2017) – Preliminary work is under way for a resurfacing and bridge repair project on U.S. Route 50 in Ross County, with contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation – District 9 starting construction at Slate Mills late next week.
Crews from the Shelly Company will be resurfacing approximately eight miles of roadway, from just west of the village of Bourneville to County Road 608 (Veterans Parkway) at Chillicothe. The project also includes rehabilitating the Deputy Lawrence Barnes Memorial Bridge at Slate Mills.
Throughout most of the project, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers; however, U.S. 50 will be closed the weekend of July 14 for crews to make repairs to the bridge. The closure will go into effect at 8 p.m. Friday, the 14th, and continue until 6 a.m. the following Monday, July 17.
While the bridge is closed, the signed detoured will be by way of S.R. 28 or S.R. 41 to S.R. 138, U.S. 35, S.R. 104 (High Street) and U.S. 50. A local detour will also be established for non-commercial traffic via S.R. 28, C.R. 110 (Maple Grove Road), C.R. 114 (Anderson Station Road), and Veterans Parkway.
The Shelly Company was awarded a contract for $1,524,953 to complete the project, and all work is anticipated to be completed in late summer.
