Resurfacing Project Slated To Begin On Highland-136, 286
Chillicothe (Friday, August 02, 2013) – Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation are scheduled to begin a resurfacing project on two Highland County routes in the coming week.
Crews from Brown County Asphalt will be resurfacing state Route 136, from its junction with U.S. Route 62, south of New Market, to the Adams County line. The project also includes resurfacing the 1.36-mile section of S.R. 286, between the Brown County line and S.R. 134, north of Buford.
The project is scheduled to begin Monday, August 5, and throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers when crews are at work.
Brown County Asphalt was awarded a contract in the amount of $912,760 to resurface approximately 8.5 miles of roadway, and all work is anticipated to be completed in by mid-fall.

In a separate project, construction is under way on Township Road 194 (Deadfall Road), where the route is closed at the 1.48-mile marker for a bridge replacement project.
Working on behalf of ODOT and the Highland County Engineer’s Office, crews from the Sunesis Construction Company are replacing a bridge situated over Ohio Brush Creek and located between T.R. 227 (Folsom Road) and S.R. 73.
The project is scheduled to be completed by early November, and while the route is closed, motorists will be detoured by way of S.R. 73 and C.R. 21 (Peach Orchard Road).
Sunesis Construction was awarded a contract for approximately $529,636 to complete the project.
