Resurfacing Project On Tap In Scioto County
Crews Ready To Start By Month’s End
Chillicothe (Thursday, March 17, 2011) – A much-anticipated construction project will get under way later this month in Scioto County as contractors prepare for a resurfacing project on U.S. Route 52.
According to Ohio Department of Transportation - District 9 Deputy Director Vaughn Wilson, crews from the Shelly Company will be resurfacing U.S. 52 from the New Boston/Portsmouth corporation limit to its junction with S.R. 140. Construction also includes paving a quarter-mile section of S.R. 335 at its junction with U.S. 52 in Portsmouth.
“We have an exciting construction season on tap this year, and this is just one of many projects that we will undertake to improve the state highway system and preserve the integrity of our routes,” said Wilson
Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, March 28, and traffic will be maintained in at least one, 11-foot lane in each direction throughout the project.
The Shelly Company of Thornville, Ohio, was awarded a contract for approximately $3.9 million, and the scheduled completion date is October 31, 2011.
