Resurfacing Projects Getting Started In Pike County
Chillicothe - Construction on one Pike County route is already under way, and work will get started soon on a separate route as different contractors undertake a pair of resurfacing projects.
According to Ohio Department of Transportation District 9 Deputy Director James Brushart, crews from the Shelly Company have begun a minor rehabilitation project on S.R. 104, while crews from Shelly and Sands will be resurfacing nearly seven miles of S.R. 335 in the coming weeks.
“These projects are a part of the more than $6 million construction season we have taking place in Pike County this year, and while contractors and maintenance crews are working to preserve the integrity of our routes, they are also working for the safety of the traveling public,” said Brushart.
Contractors will be paving S.R. 104 between the Scioto County line and the route’s intersection with S.R. 32 at Jasper, and in a separate project, crews from Shelly and Sands will be resurfacing S.R. 335 from the village of Beaver to just west of Township Road 520 (Walker Ridge Road).
While construction has already begun on Ohio-104, crews are scheduled tentatively to begin working on state Route 335 during the first week of August. Throughout construction, traffic on all routes will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers when crews are at work.
The Shelly Company of Thornville, Ohio, was awarded a contract in the amount of $1,045,214 to resurface state Route 104, while Shelly and Sands of Zanesville, Ohio, was awarded a contract in the amount of $744,122 to resurface state Route 335. Both projects have a scheduled completion date of October 31, 2009.
