Rock Excavation Project Meeting On Tap Tomorrow
Contractors To Explain Blasting Operations
Chillicothe (Tuesday, February 17, 2015) – Representatives from the Ohio Department of Transportation and their contractors, DGM Incorporated, will hold a public meeting tomorrow for an upcoming excavation and rock removal project in Jackson County.
Construction is set to begin early next month of state Route 327, where crews will be removing the rock and constructing benches along the east hillside of the route between Township Road 207 (Woodrow Hale Road) and T.R. 804 (Ray Cemetery Road).
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss blasting operations that will take place as part of the project, and it will be held Wednesday, February 18, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the construction field office at 19334 S.R. 327, Wellston.
Although a specific start date for construction has yet to be established, it is anticipated to begin in early March, and once construction gets under way, the route will be subject to a 60-day closure.
DGM, Inc. was awarded a contract for approximately $648,000 to recut and repair the slide area, and all work is anticipated to be completed in late spring.
