Ross-159 Open To Traffic; Signal Repair Under Way
Chillicothe (Wednesday, October 9, 2013) – Although state Route 159 in Ross County is open to traffic this afternoon, crews will be working through the night to restore a traffic signal at the route’s intersection with Kenworth Drive.
S.R. 159 was closed at Kenworth Drive, north of the U.S. Route 23 interchange, during the early morning hours following an accident in which the signal poles were struck by a service truck, thereby disabling the signals, poles and span wires.
Currently, the route is open to traffic, and a two-way stop has been erected on Kenworth Drive. However, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will be working throughout the evening to install new poles and repair the signals.
While S.R. 159 and Kenworth Drive will remain open, traffic will be maintained by flaggers and law enforcement officers as needed, and motorists are advised to exercise additional caution and to expect intermittent periods of short-term delay.
It is anticipated that the signal will be restored and in operation by mid- or late morning Thursday, October 10.
