Ross-23 Preservation Project Progressing
Contractors moving into next phase of construction next week
Chillicothe (Thursday, April 27, 2017) – With a bridge repair and resurfacing project on U.S. 23 in Ross County already under way, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation – District 9 will be moving into the next phase of construction and impart additional restrictions next week.
In advance of paving operations, crews from the Shelly Company are repairing structures on U.S. 23, from just north of the S.R. 159 interchange on U.S. 23 to the County Road 238 (Charleston Pike)/Main Street exit at the U.S. 23/U.S. 35 bypass. Construction also includes bridge repairs at the C.R. 241 (Marietta Road) overpass, where the contractors will close the route next week.
On Wednesday, May 3, Marietta Road will be closed between Township Road 222 (Narrows Road) and T.R. 237 (Seney Road). The closure will be in effect for up to 60 days, and while Marietta Road is closed, motorists will be detoured by way of Narrows Road, Charleston Pike, U.S. 23, U.S. 35 and S.R. 159 (Bridge Street).
Traffic on U.S. 23 will continue to be maintained in a minimum of one lane in each direction, and a variable speed limit will be in effect.
The Shelly Company was awarded a contract for $1,735,974 to complete the project, and all work is scheduled to wrap up by late summer.
Motorists are reminded of the need for additional caution when traveling through these and other work zones.
