Ross-50 Resurfacing Project Slated To Start
Chillicothe - Preparations will get under way next week for a two-lane resurfacing project on U.S. Route 50 in Ross County.
According to Ohio Department of Transportation District 9 Deputy Director James Brushart, contractors for the department are scheduled tentatively to begin preliminary site preparations Monday, April 27, weather permitting.
“Resurfacing projects such as this are important for the preservation of a given route, as well as for the safety of the traveling public, so we appreciate motorists’ patience as construction gets under way,” said Brushart.
The 8.36-mile project extends from County Road 149 (Jones Levee Road), west of Bourneville, to the western corporation limit of Chillicothe and includes making necessary repairs to the route and overlaying the pavement with asphalt.
Shelly and Sands Incorporated of Zanesville, Ohio, was awarded a contract in the amount of $1.95 million to complete the resurfacing project. Throughout construction, two-way traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers as needed, and the project is scheduled to be completed by June 30, 2009.
