Rozelle Creek Road Closure Goes Into Effect
Chillicothe (Monday, November 16, 2015) – As part of a safety initiative, a section of roadway between U.S. 23 North and C.R. 600 (Massieville Road) in Ross County has been closed permanently.
Today, crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Ross County Highway Maintenance Facility closed the access from U.S. 23 to the east leg of County Road 184 (Rozelle Creek Road) and began installing guardrail along the northbound side of U.S. 23 at the former entrance to Rozelle Creek Road.
As part of the permanent closure, the bridge situated over Rozelle Creek will be removed, and the pavement on both sides of the structure will also be removed to eliminate the roadway between U.S. 23 and Massieville Road. In addition, the southbound left-turn lane from U.S. 23 to Rozelle Creek Road will be removed and repaved with transverse lane markings.
With today’s closure of Rozelle Creek Road, motorists to the community of Massieville and adjacent local roads will now need to travel by way of Massieville Road or other area roads.
As ODOT’s crews continue working through Tuesday, November 17, to install guardrail, U.S. 23 will be reduced to one lane in each direction at the intersection, and motorists are reminded of the need for additional caution.
