S.R. 321 Closing Today For Bridge Replacement
Route to be closed for up to 180 days
Chillicothe (Monday, February 4, 2013) – Although it’s still winter and there’s snow on the ground, a construction project on state Route 321 in Highland County is set to begin, and contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will impart a road closure today, February 4.
Crews from DGM Incorporated are closing Highland-321 to begin the first phase of a dual bridge replacement project. The first structure to be replaced is located at the 2.17-mile marker, just east of Buford, between S.R. 134 and County Road 2 (Gath Road).
Following operations here, crews will move to the 3.97-mile marker, immediately west of Township Road 143 (Bells Run Road), to replace a bridge at this location. Closure at the 3.97-mile marker, however, will be imparted after the route has been reopened at the 2.17-mile marker.
While each bridge will be closed separately, S.R. 321 will be closed for up to 180 days for the entire project, and throughout construction, motorists will be detoured via U.S. Route 62, S.R. 32 and S.R. 134.
DGM of Beaver, Ohio, was awarded a contract in the amount of $927,659 to replace both structures.
