S.R. 335 Restrictions Starting Next Friday
Route to be reduced to one lane through the summer
Chillicothe (Friday, June 10, 2016) – With construction of the Southern Ohio Veterans Memorial Highway project in full swing, temporary restrictions will be imparted on state Route 335 and U.S. Route 52 late next week.
On Friday, June 17, S.R. 335 will be reduced to one lane just north of County Road 31 (Swauger Valley Road) where crews from the Portsmouth Joint Venture are constructing a bridge over S.R. 335.
The single-lane restriction will be in effect through early September, and traffic in the work zone will be maintained by temporary signals.
In addition to the restrictions on S.R. 335, westbound U.S. 52 will be reduced to one lane between the S.R. 140 and the C.R. 550 exits at Wheelersburg on June 17 while crews place concrete barrier and attenuators along the shoulder of the route’s westbound lanes.
The lane restriction will be in effect from approximately 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, and once the barrier wall has been set, the shoulder will remain closed through late August. The closure is necessary for the contractors to facilitate interchange, MSE wall and bridge construction operations at the route’s juncture with the roadway more safely.

In the spirit of a public-private partnership, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Portsmouth Gateway Group are constructing the new state Route 823, a 16-mile, four-lane, limited access highway from U.S. 23 at Lucasville to U.S. 52 at Sciotoville in Scioto County. The Southern Ohio Veterans Memorial Highway is the department’s first P3 project and the largest, modern earthwork project to be constructed in the state’s history.
