S.R. 72 To Be Closed For Railroad Repair
Chillicothe (Monday, July 06, 2015) – State Route 72 in Highland County will be closed late next week for a railroad repair to the Greenfield Rail Line as part of the village of Greenfield’s rail line improvement project.
On Thursday, July 17, crews from Balfour Beatty Infrastructure, contractors for the village of Greenfield, will close the route between U.S. Route 62 at Samantha and S.R. 28 at Highland in order to repair the at-grade railroad crossing that is situated between County Road 22 (Mullen Hill Road) and C.R. 36 (Hixon Road), approximately one-half mile south of Highland.
The Greenfield Rail Line improvement project began in June 2015 with the contractors working to improve the bridges, crossings, rail and signals along 29.5 miles of railroad from Greenfield to Midland.
Next week’s closure of S.R. 72 will go into effect at approximately 8 a.m. on the 17th and continue until 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 21st, or until all work is completed. While the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via U.S. 62 and S.R. 28.
