S.R. 763 Reopens Following Emergency Culvert Replacement
Chillicothe (Thursday, September 17, 2015) – Expediting an emergency culvert replacement on state Route 763, crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Brown County Highway Maintenance Facility have completed most of the repairs and have reopened the route to traffic.
S.R. 763 was reduced to one lane at the 11.0-mile marker, between Township Road 24 (W. Fork Road) and S.R. 353, on Wednesday, September 2, after it was discovered that a culvert and pavement had collapsed along the route’s southbound lane.
Work began immediately with the installation of footers and headwalls, and a new culvert was then set. Although the route had to be closed this week for the crews to install the new pipe, the short-term closure was lifted late yesterday, September 16, and the route was reopened to one lane.
Brown County’s crews are now completing repairs to the catch basin, as well as other finishing work, and traffic is being maintained with temporary signals. It is anticipated that the route will be fully restored and the single-lane restriction will be lifted tomorrow, September 18.
