S.R.7/Rockwood Avenue Slide Repair Set To Begin
Chillicothe (Monday, March 10, 2014) – A much-anticipated slide repair is set to begin on state Route 7 in Lawrence County, with contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation imparting lane restrictions next week.
Crews from Shelly and Sands, Inc. will reduce S.R. 7 to one, 10-foot lane in the village of Chesapeake in order to correct a landslide slip. The project site is located between the route’s junction with S.R. 527 at Chesapeake and County Road 32 (Eaton Road), and construction includes installing a 264-foot, lagging retaining wall along the route’s west side, as well as replacing the shoulder, curb and gutter.
Lane restrictions are anticipated to go into effect on Monday, March 17, and throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of temporary traffic signals.
Shelly and Sands was awarded a contract for approximately $984,496.15 to complete the project, and all work is anticipated to be completed in early summer.
