SOVMH: Bridge 10 Beams To Be
Set Over S.R. 139
September 8, 2017) – Bridge
construction is well under way throughout the corridor for the new state
Route 823 in Scioto County, and during the next two weeks, another structure
will become even more distinct as beams go up over S.R. 139.
Beginning next week, crews from the Portsmouth Joint Venture will close S.R.
139 between County Road 546 (Glendale Road) and Township Road 516 (Oliver
Road) for bridge construction and beam erection at Bridge 10, which will
carry S.R. 823 over S.R. 139.
closure will go into effect at 7 a.m. Monday, September 11, and continue
through Tuesday, September 26. While the route is closed, motorists will be
detoured by way of Glendale Road, S.R. 335 and C.R. 28 (Lucasville-Minford
with the closure of S.R. 139, single-lane restrictions remain in place on
C.R. 29 (Blue Run Road) and C.R. 55 (Fairground Road) during daytime, working
upcoming week, Blue Run Road will be subject to single-lane restrictions at
its junction with T.R. 381 (Flowers Ison Road) for equipment access and
materials delivery. And Fairground Road will be reduced to one lane between
T.R. 158 (Thomas Hollow Road) and C.R. 26 (Millers Run-Fallen Timber Road) through
September 21 for bridge work.

Transportation and the Portsmouth Gateway Group are constructing the new
state Route 823, a 16-mile, four-lane, limited access highway from U.S. 23 at
Lucasville to U.S. 52 at Sciotoville in Scioto County. The Southern Ohio
Veterans Memorial Highway is the department’s first P3 project and the
largest, modern earthwork project to be constructed in the state’s history.
