Progressing Into Final Year Of Construction
Bridge 11 beam installation scheduled;
two-week closure of Lucasville-Minford
Road on tap
Chillicothe (Friday, January
19, 2018) – It may be winter and there may be some snow on the ground,
but that’s not stopping progress at the Southern Ohio Veterans Memorial Highway,
as construction of the new, four-lane state Route 823 in Scioto County continues
into its final year.
Currently, the project to construct Ohio’s single,
largest earthwork project and first public-private partnership is nearly 90
percent complete, with pavement and bridges, on average, 67 percent complete.
And as work continues throughout the entire corridor during the winter months,
contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Portsmouth
Gateway Group will turn their attention back toward bridge construction on County
Road 28 (Lucasville-Minford Road) in the coming weeks.
On Monday, January 29, crews from the
Portsmouth Joint Venture will begin installing beams for
Bridge 11, which will be the overpass to carry S.R. 823 traffic over Lucasville-Minford
Road, and a two-week closure of the route has been scheduled.
The closure go into effect at approximately 8
a.m. on the 29th, and the route will be closed through the end of
the work day on Thursday, February 8. While Lucasville-Minford Road is
closed, traffic will be detoured by way C.R. 549 (Glendale Road), S.R. 139
and S.R. 335 in Minford.
