SOVMH: Restrictions To Be Imparted On SCI-52, 335
Routes subject to temporary restrictions this week
Chillicothe (Monday, March 21, 2016) – Restrictions will be imparted on U.S. Route 52 and state Route 335 in Scioto County this week as part of the Southern Ohio Veterans Memorial Highway construction project.
On Wednesday, March 23, crews for the Portsmouth Joint Venture (PJV) will be clearing trees within the project right of way along U.S. 52 East, between the interchanges at S.R. 140 and Wheelersburg. Crew will be working from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and traffic will be reduced to one lane in the eastbound direction.
In addition to the U.S. 52 restrictions, temporary restrictions will also be in place on Wednesday on S.R. 335, where crews will be placing barrier wall between County Road 31 (Swauger Valley Road) and C.R. 246 (Stout Hollow Road). Traffic will be maintained by flaggers throughout the day; however, motorists are advised that they may encounter short-term periods of delay at any time during operations.
Motorists are also reminded of the need for additional caution throughout the corridor, where crews and heavy equipment are moving in and out of the work zone.
In the spirit of a public-private partnership, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Portsmouth Gateway Group are constructing the new state Route 823, a 16-mile, four-lane, limited access highway from U.S. 23 at Lucasville to U.S. 52 at Sciotoville in Scioto County. The Southern Ohio Veterans Memorial Highway is the department’s first P3 project and the largest, modern earthwork project to be constructed in the state’s history.
