S.R. 505 Open To Traffic
Daily Closures Scheduled Next Week, Weather Permitting
Chillicothe (Friday, April 2, 2010) – While state Route 505 in Brown County has been reopened to traffic following today’s culvert replacement project, the route is scheduled for daytime closure throughout next week as weather permits.
As part of a series of such projects, crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Brown County Highway Maintenance Facility are replacing culverts along S.R. 505, between U.S. Route 52 at Higginsport and S.R. 125 near Hamersville.
During the week of April 5, the route will be subject to single-day closure each day, with operations beginning at the 1.57-mile marker, south of County Road 43B (Oak Grove Road), on Monday. The crews will continue working north throughout the week, replacing pipes respectively at the 3.20, 3.96, 4.22 and 4.25-mile markers, between Township Road 288 (Williams Road) and C.R. 293 (*Barr School House Road), on each subsequent day.
The schedule for each single-day closure will be contingent upon the weather and the availability of materials. Each day that a culvert replacement is under way, the route will be closed from approximately 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., reopening to evening and overnight travel. During periods of closure, motorists will be detoured via U.S. Route 52 at Higginsport to S.R. 133 and S.R. 125 in Clermont County.
