Improvement Project Set To Begin On Scioto-140
Chillicothe (Thursday, May 22, 2014) – A safety improvement project on state Route
140 in Scioto County is set to begin as preliminary operations and site
preparations get under way next week.
Beginning Tuesday, May 27, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation
will begin operations to correct the alignment and curve at S.R. 140’s
junction with County Road 14 (Allegheny Hill Road) and C.R. 13 (Gephart Road).
The project site is located approximately five miles north of Portsmouth, and
construction also includes replacing the existing structure over Ward’s Run, as
well as correcting the approaches, installing guardrail and paving.

temporary signals. However, both Allegheny Hill and Gephart roads will be
closed at their junction with S.R. 140. Motorists will have access to both
routes via their junction with S.R. 140 at the opposite ends of the work

awarded a contract in the amount of $1.098 million to complete the project, and
all work is scheduled to be completed in mid-fall.
