Schedule Change For Pike-23 Closures
Columbus (Friday, October 26, 2012) – Although U.S. Route 23 North in Pike County was scheduled for temporary closure at the off-ramp to the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Portsmouth site at Piketon today, the schedule has been changed, and the closure has been postponed until next week.
The northbound lanes of U.S. 23 will be closed intermittently on Tuesday, October 30, at the DOE exit while crews transport condensers to the entrance of Columbus Equipment, which is just south of the interchange.
This is the eighth move in an ongoing series of equipment moves from the facility. Subsequent moves are also scheduled to take place on Wednesday, November 7, and Wednesday, November 14. All moves are to be conducted between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day, and U.S. 23 northbound motorists should expect delays of 10 to 15 minutes between these hours.
Since each move will be conducted in a rolling operation and periods of closure are intermittent, there will be no posted detour, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol will be assisting with traffic control.
