Schedule Set For Additional Ross-138 Culvert Work
Single-day Closures Planned This Week & Next
Chillicothe (Monday, April 19, 2010)B As a culvert replacement project on state Route 138 nears completion this afternoon, crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Ross County Highway Maintenance Facility are scheduled to resume operations tomorrow, and they have set the timetable for the remaining six culverts to be replaced later this week and early next.
Following today’s closure, S.R. 138 will be closed again Tuesday, April 20, for crews to replace a pipe near the route’s 11.5-mile marker, between County Road 29 (Austin Road) and County Road 550 (Old U.S. Route 35) north of Austin.
Then on Thursday and Friday, April 22 and 23, maintenance crews will close the route north of U.S. 35, to replace culverts located at the 13.21-mile marker, just north of Township Road 96 (Hickle Road), and at the 15.21-mile marker, between County Road 127 (Egypt Pike) and Township Road 85B (Asbury Road).
Subsequent closures will follow next week, with the route closed during daytime, business hours Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, April 26-28, for three culvert replacements between Egypt Pike and Township Road 1098 (Stinson Drive) at Clarksburg.
Each day’s closure is scheduled to go into effect beginning at 8:00 a.m. and continuing until approximately 3:30 p.m. each day, or until all work is completed. On Tuesday, April 20, traffic will again be detoured via Austin Road and Old U.S. 35. However, for the remaining five projects, the route will be closed between U.S. 35 and S.R. 207 at Clarksburg, with traffic detoured by way of County Road 87 (Frankfort-Clarksburg Pike) and U.S. 35.
Completion of each single-day project will be contingent upon the weather, and the scheduled to reopen the route each day may vary, depending upon the crews’ progress. The route will be open to evening, overnight and weekend travel.
