Scioto-139, 335 Resurfacing-Bridge Repair Project Slated To Begin
Chillicothe (Friday, July 10, 2015) – A two-lane resurfacing and bridge repair project is set to begin on state route 139 and 335 in Scioto County, as preliminary operations get under way next week.
On Monday, July 13, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will begin operations to rehabilitate bridges and resurface sections of S.R. 139 and S.R. 335. Crews from the Shelly Company will be repairing one bridge and resurfacing S.R. 335, between Township Road 228 (Bennet Road) and T.R. 224 (Lyons Road), north of Minford.
The contractors will also be repairing a series of structures at various locations on S.R. 139. More specifically, these bridges are located at the 8.24, 10.85, 11.45, 11.77 and 16.49-mile markers, between C.R. 29 (Wilson Road) and C.R. 18 (White Gravel-McDaniel Road). In addition to the bridge repair, construction on S.R. 139 includes resurfacing the route between the Portsmouth corporation limit and the Jackson County line. The project also includes widening the shoulders between the 3.0 and the 10.5-mile markers and providing access management improvements at High Street and S.R. 139 in Minford.
Throughout the project, traffic will be maintained in one, 10-foot lane by temporary traffic signals at the bridge locations and with the use of flaggers through the remainder of the construction zone.
The Shelly Company of Thornville, Ohio was awarded a contract in the amount of approximately $4.98 million to complete the project, and all work is anticipated to be completed by early November of this year.
