Scioto-335 Resurfacing, Guardrail Project Slated To Begin
Chillicothe (Wednesday, April 16, 2014) – A two-lane resurfacing and guardrail installation project is set to begin on state Route 335 in Scioto County, as preliminary operations get under way next week.
On Monday, April 21, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will begin operations to upgrade and relocate guardrail on the east side of Scioto-335 and at the intersection of County Road 31 (Swauger Valley Road). Crews from Allard Excavating will also install paved gutter on the west side of S.R. 335 and resurface the route between the northern corporation limit of Portsmouth and C.R. 12 (Bennett Schoolhouse Road).
During the initial phase of guardrail construction, traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Then, as the project progresses through guardrail construction, shoulder widening and gutter construction, traffic will be maintained with temporary traffic signals. And during the final phase of paving operations, traffic will be maintained by flaggers.
A specific timeline for each phase of construction has yet to be determined, and the progression of all work will be contingent upon the weather.
The Allard Excavating Company of South Webster, Ohio was awarded a contract in the amount of approximately $2.08 million to complete the project, and all work is anticipated to be completed by late October of this year.
