Scioto-52 Off-Ramp Closure Slated For Rehab Project
Chillicothe (Thursday, August 8, 2013) – As part of a major rehabilitation project on U.S. Route 52 in Scioto County, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation have scheduled the next ramp closure within the construction zone.
On Thursday, August 15, crews from Complete General Construction will close the exit ramp (Ramp A) from U.S. 52 East to S.R. 852 (Carl Perkins Bridge) in order to rehabilitate the structure. While the ramp is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 239 to S.R. 73/104 at West Portsmouth. The closure is anticipated to be in effect for up to 60 days, and completion of this phase of construction will be contingent upon the weather.
Currently, U.S. 52 is reduced to one, 11-foot lane in each direction between T.R. 569 (Old U.S. 52) near the S.R. 239 interchange and the Scioto River bridges at the Portsmouth corporation limit. The project work limits will also include portions of S.R. 73, S.R. 239 and S.R. 852.
The Complete General Construction Company was awarded a contract for approximately $12 million to complete the project, and all work for the two-year project is anticipated to be completed in mid-fall of 2014.
Motorists are reminded of the need for additional safety in the work zone, paying heed to crews, width restrictions and reduced speed limits.
