Scioto-52 Resurfacing Heats Up
Third Project In Scioto County Under Way
Chillicothe (Friday, May 6, 2011) – A resurfacing project is under way on U.S. 52 in Scioto County, making this the third project that will repair, rehabilitate and resurface approximately 13.5 miles of the route between Portsmouth and the Lawrence County line.
According to Ohio Department of Transportation - District 9 Deputy Director Vaughn Wilson, crews from the Shelly Company will be resurfacing U.S. 52 between S.R. 253 at the Greenup Dam exit and the Lawrence County line, and construction began this week.
Lane and width restrictions are also in place on U.S. 52 between the Portsmouth/New Boston corporation limit and S.R. 140, as well as from S.R. 140 to S.R. 522 for two other resurfacing projects.
The Shelly Company of Thornville, Ohio, was awarded a contract for approximately $5.1 million, and throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in at least one, 12-foot lane in each direction.
The scheduled completion date for all work is October 31, 2011.
