Second Slip Repair Project Set To Start
Additional Signals To Be In Operation On Lawrence-650
Chillicothe (Thursday, March 28, 2013) – A separate project to repair a slip on state Route 650 in Lawrence County is set to begin, as contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will impart additional lane restrictions early next week.
Crews from DGM, Incorporated will reduce S.R. 650 on Tuesday, April 2, to one, nine-foot lane at the route’s 6.40-mile marker in order to correct a slip that is situated just south of County Road 43 (Kelly’s Mill Road), between the route’s junction with S.R. 522 and the village of Hanging Rock. Construction includes repairing the slip with a retaining wall along the route’s west side, as well as pavement, shoulder and guardrail reconstruction.
Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of temporary traffic signals. Currently, the route is reduced to one lane between T.R. 218 (Tunnel Ridge Road) and C.R. 25 (Pine Grove-Smokey Row Road) for a separate slip repair project, and traffic is being maintained with signals at this location, too.
DGM was awarded a contract for approximately $182,171 to complete the repairs, and it is anticipated to be completed in mid-summer.
