Severe Storms, Culvert Washout Force Closure Of Scioto-522
Chillicothe (Thursday, March 2, 2017) – A section of state Route 522 in Scioto County has been closed after this week’s severe storms have resulted in pavement damage and a possible culvert failure.
S.R. 522 has been closed at the 3.71-mile marker, between Township Road 262 (Mill Road) and T.R. 260 (Goose Creek Road), where the pavement has suffered extensive damage and a culvert has been undermined.
Crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Scioto County Highway Maintenance Facility will assess the culvert to determine the necessary course of action for repairs; however, the route will remain closed until such time that it can be restored to traffic safely.
While S.R. 522 is closed, motorists will be detoured via U.S. 52 and S.R. 650 in Lawrence County.
