Slide Project Gets Under Way In Pike County
Repairs set to begin next week
Chillicothe (Thursday, October 3, 2013) – Construction will get under way early next week to repair a slide on state Route 32 in Pike County.
According to Ohio Department of Transportation - District 9 Deputy Director Vaughn Wilson, crews from the Double Z Construction Company will undertake a project to repair a slide at the 20.24-mile marker. The project site is situated just east of the CSX Railroad underpass, between the County Road 66 (Germany Road) and Township Road 612 (Darst Road)/C.R. 57 (Beaver Pike) intersections.
Construction, which includes excavating a bench below the surface and reconstructing the slope, is scheduled to begin Monday, October 7, and throughout the project, traffic will be maintained in one, 12-foot lane in each direction.
Double Z was awarded a contract for $572,790.53 to repair the slide, and the completion date for all work is June 30, 2014.
