Slide Repair Project Set To Begin On Ross-50
Chillicothe (Tuesday, February 28, 2017) – A project to reconstruct a section of U.S. Route 50 in Ross County is set to begin, with lane restrictions going into effect this week.
Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will be rebuilding and stabilizing a slide at the route’s 8.04-mile marker. The project site is located between T.R. 38 (Dill Road) and T.R. 150 (California Hollow Road), approximately three miles east of Bainbridge, and the contractors will be installing a drilled shaft retaining wall and reconstructing the embankment to correct the landslide area. The project also includes minor pavement, conduit and guardrail construction.
Preliminary operations are scheduled to begin Wednesday, March 1, and during the first phase of the project, traffic will be maintained by flaggers when crews are at work. During subsequent phases, traffic will be maintained in one, 11-foot lane with the use of temporary traffic signals.
George J. Igel and Company was awarded a contract for approximately $898,890 to repair the slide, and all work is scheduled to be completed in early summer.
