Slocum Avenue Restrictions Today
Chillicothe (Friday, January 08, 2016) – As part of construction for the new state Route 823 in Scioto County, Slocum Avenue in Portsmouth will be subject to temporary periods of single-lane restrictions today, January 8.
Crews from the Portsmouth Joint Venture (PJV) will be placing barrier wall along Slocum Avenue, working from approximately 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and throughout the day, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers.
Motorists may encounter some short-term periods of delay, and they are reminded of the need for additional caution in the work zone.
In the spirit of a public-private partnership, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Portsmouth Gateway Group are constructing the new state Route 823, a 16-mile, four-lane, limited access highway from U.S. 23 at Lucasville to U.S. 52 at Sciotoville in Scioto County. The Southern Ohio Veterans Memorial Highway is the department’s first P3 project and the largest, modern earthwork project to be constructed in the state’s history.
