Speakman Retires From Ross County ODOT
Chillicothe - After nearly 20 years of dedicated service, Robin Speakman has retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation's Ross County Highway Maintenance Facility.
A highway technician 1, Speakman began her career with ODOT in 1989 as a highway maintenance worker in which she performed a host of duties in the daily maintenance operations of the state highway system, and from plowing snow in the winter to mowing grass in the summer, she has continued working in this capacity ever since.
“Robin has been a dedicated employee, taking pride in her work and the service she provided not only to the county=s maintenance program, but to the community as a whole,” said District 9 Deputy Director James Brushart.
In her spare time, Speakman enjoys cooking, sewing and bowling. And although she will miss her co-workers, Speakman is ready for retirement in which she plans to do “whatever I want, whenever I want” and spend more time with her children and grandchildren.
“I have really enjoyed working at the Ross County garage, and believe it or not, plowing snow,” said Speakman. “Of course, I’ve especially enjoyed working with the people at ODOT who have become my extended family.”
A graduate of the Western Schools in Pike County, Speakman is a resident of the Londonderry community, where she lives with her husband, Larry. She is also the proud mother of April (Shoemaker) and Kelly (Mustard), as well as the grandmother of TyReese, Ryan, Mathew and Elisabeth Dawn.
