State Route 138 Closing For Culvert Replacement Projects
Back-to-back one-day closures next week
Chillicothe (Thursday, April 15, 2010)B State Route 138 in Ross County will be closed two days next week near the community of Austin as part of a series of culvert replacement projects along the route.
On Monday and Tuesday, April 19 and 20, crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation=s Ross County Highway Maintenance Facility will close a half-mile section of the route near the 11.0-mile marker, just north of Austin, to replace a pair of deteriorated pipes situated between County Road 29 (Austin Road) and County Road 550 (Old U.S. Route 35).
The closures are scheduled to go into effect beginning at approximately 8:00 a.m. and continuing until 3:30 p.m. each day, and while the route is closed, traffic will be detoured by way of Austin Road and Old U.S. 35.
During the upcoming weeks, crews will be replacing an additional five culverts on Ross-138, requiring single-day closure of the route for each project. Subsequent closures will be scheduled as weather and the availability of materials permit. For each day that the route is closed, motorists will be detoured locally, and the route will be open to evening and overnight travel.
