State Route 28 In Ross County Remains Closed
Chillicothe - While crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation continue their efforts to restore state Route 28 in Ross County, the highway remains closed today, June 13, and the closure remains in effect until further notice.
The route was closed last month after a culvert located at the 7.08-mile marker collapsed, causing the shoulder to give way and undermining the pavement. The damaged area is located just west of Township Road 899 (Halley Lane), between County Road 60 (Westfall Road) and County Road 93 (Porter Hollow Road).
Currently, crews from the department’s Ross County Highway Maintenance Facility are working to restore the roadway by replacing the culvert and bringing the base and pavement up to grade with a sufficient amount of material.
Although it is anticipated that most construction will be completed by late next week, the route is closed until further notice. While it is closed, motorists continue to be detoured via U.S. Route 50 at Slate Mills and state Route 41 at Bainbridge.
