State Route 73 In Scioto County Slated For Resurfacing
Chillicothe - Preparations will get under way this week for a two-lane resurfacing project on state Route 73 in Scioto County.
According to Ohio Department of Transportation District 9 Deputy Director James Brushart, contractors are scheduled to begin site preparations with sign installation and milling on Thursday, September 4, weather permitting.
“With 48 preservation projects on tap in District 9 this year, our construction department has had a full season,” said Brushart. “And resurfacing projects such as this are essential to maintain and preserve the integrity of a given route.”
The 10.12-mile project extends from the Adams County line to County Road 44 (Henley-Comstock Road) at Henley and includes making necessary repairs to the route and overlaying the pavement with asphalt.
The Shelly Company of Thornville, Ohio, was awarded a contract in the amount of $1.46 million to complete the resurfacing project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers, and the project is scheduled to be completed by October 31, 2008.
