Stout Hollow Road Closure Scheduled Next Month
Chillicothe (Monday, February 29, 2016) – County Road 246 (Stout Hollow Road) in Scioto County will be closed early next month, and accommodations are being made to address residents’ needs during the long-term closure.
As part of the Southern Ohio Veterans Memorial Highway construction project in Scioto County, crews from the Portsmouth Joint Venture, contractors for the Portsmouth Gateway Group, will close Stout Hollow Road between its junction with C.R. 243 (Dutch Ridge Road) and Township Road 521 (Weaver Lane).
The closure, which is necessary for mass excavation and bridge construction, will go into effect on Monday, March 7, and the road will be closed until mid-December 2018.
Although Stout Hollow will be closed through the duration of construction and there will be no access from Dutch Ridge Road, residents traveling from S.R. 335 will have access to the last residential drive on Stout Hollow. In addition, emergency services will continue to have access to residents and properties on the east side of the closure.
In the spirit of a public-private partnership, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Portsmouth Gateway Group are constructing the new state Route 823, a 16-mile, four-lane, limited access highway from U.S. 23 at Lucasville to U.S. 52 at Sciotoville in Scioto County. The Southern Ohio Veterans Memorial Highway is the department’s first P3 project and the largest, modern earthwork project to be constructed in the state’s history.
