Stout Hollow Road Closure This Week
Blasting Operations Continue Throughout Corridor
Chillicothe (Monday, January 11, 2016) – County Road 246 will be closed three days this week as part of the Southern Ohio Veterans Memorial Highway construction project in Scioto County.
Beginning Wednesday, January 13, and continuing through Friday, January 15, C.R. 246 (Stout Hollow Road) will be closed during daytime, working hours between state Route 335 and C.R. 243 (Dutch Ridge Road) for crews from the Portsmouth Joint Venture to conduct geotechnical borings. The daytime closures will be in effect from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, with the route open to evening and overnight travel.
In addition to this and other local closures, blasting is under way throughout the entire corridor. Although there will be no affect to traffic during these operations, residents in the general project area may experience sound or ground vibrations from the blasting, which is expected to occur weekdays during the noon hour and again in late afternoon or early evening. Blasting will continue intermittently throughout the duration of the project.
In the spirit of a public-private partnership, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Portsmouth Gateway Group are constructing the new state Route 823, a 16-mile, four-lane, limited access highway from U.S. 23 at Lucasville to U.S. 52 at Sciotoville in Scioto County. The Southern Ohio Veterans Memorial Highway is the department’s first P3 project and the largest, modern earthwork project to be constructed in the state’s history.
